Nearby activities
Those below are our favorite activities around here, as a couple and then with a girl who grew up here, from her birth to her eleventh year. This therefore depends on our tastes. Tourism offices will give you other information.
It is authorized to fish from the coast but fishing equipment and baits are specific. Regarding fly fishing, see at the end of this page.

Le Conquet

Lochrist
Center of Le Conquet
Kermorvan Peninsula
Points of interest :
- Beach : seabeds here are amazing. You can see many fish and spider crab not far from the shore. Garnets are embedded in the rocks. And sometimes, we may find abalone shells in the foreshore détritus. Our nearest and preferred beach, Porz Liogan, is at 10min by foot (300m from the house).
- The coastal path, that rounds Brittany, can be reached from the porz Liogan beach parking. To your right is the path to Le Conquet, via the Bilou beach, the Foxes Point and Portez Beach. To your left, the path leads to Saint Mathieu point, via Penzer Point (a hidden cave is underneath it but the walk/climbing can be tricky).
- A more inside the lands path gives the possibility to benefit from the view with a baby stroller. It goes via the Penzer farm qui where you can buy direct sales vegetables, and via a nice lavoir not far from the house (see page about "acecss") .
- The Ty Gwen farm, on the way to Brest, also sells direct sales vegetables and fruits on some evenings and saturday morning.
- The Lochrist Fire (sort of lighthouse) can only be visited during one septembre weekend, Les Journées du Patrimoine.
- Finally, the cemetery Chapel is very lovely and often open.
Points of interest :
- By bike, in 10-15min, see "Access" page for itineraries with minimum climb, beginning behing Lochrist cemetery. By foot in 30min.
- Shops : bakery, butcher, pharmacy, mini market Spar (post office inside), banks, bookshop, local or typical products shops, market on tuesday morning, etc…
- One of our favorite places : an excellent library (books and games) with the possibility to play there or to pay a weekly subscription if you wan to borrow books or games. There is also a nice spot there for very small kids to play. And sometimes on Wednesday during holidays, they organize very good activities for small kids.
- A playground, a basketball court and a small sliding spot are near the Beausejour parc, near the town hall.
- Restaurants : we have our favorites but several are really good and there is even one 3min from the house by foot.
- From the port, you can board on boats to Molène or Ouessant (bigger and wilder) islands. Once on Ouessant, you may use the small bus to the village then walk back through the coastal path. It is approximately a day walk via the North ou South path. There is a parking at Le Conquet entrance (near the ria) in order to leave the car for the day. In summer ou during weekends, it is better to book beforehand.
- The Konk Leon farm also sells direct sales vegetables and fruits in different places several days a week.
Points of interest :
- from Le Conquet center, the path along the ria to the footbridge is very nice (see maps on the "access" page). After crossing the Ria via the footbridge, you have to climb and go on on the left to the long Blancs Sablons Beach or the Kermorvan peninsula. You can also drive there.
- The Blancs Sablons beach is the longest one around here. It is perfect with small children as the level decreases very slowly. The water is also a bit warmer here (thanks to this slow decrease). This is a good surf spot (also for beginners). And for long and good walks in the sea (calves or waist level... (longe coast). It is also possible to dig and find shells (tellines) with the low tide but watch for sanitary decrees in the townhouse first regarding the water quality for shells. This is equally important before picking shells in the ria with the low tide.
- the Kermorvan Peninsula provides a great walk, in a longer and beautiful version along the coast or in a shorter version following the road. At the end of this road sits the Kermorvan Lighthouse, renovated in 2022 and quite interesting to visit, not to mention the view. See the "access" Page for maps and more details.

From the point, you can see the Tas de pois from Crozon peninsula and often see the Point of Raz.
- The coastal trail, towards Plougonvelin, leads to a derelict Blaukhaus and some other old war testimonies. This trail to Plougonvelin is really somptuous and wild but it must be earned.
- The Musée de la Memoire 39-45 is simply perfect. But it may be a bit too impressive for small kids.

Brest really deserves some time. Its streets are bright, and its ports, living places and gardens bring some character to this nearly complete post WWII city.

Our preferred spot : Les Ateliers des Capucins.
- Capucins : huge and unique indoor area, perfect for kids to learn or practice roller and skate, or even bike for the youngest ones, and perfect for rainy picnic... There are also some fun shops and museums as well as a cinema. There are very often some excellent animations.

Oceanopolis
The internet website gives every bits of necessary information. This peculiar aquarium is divided in 3 zones : Britany, Tropical, polar. In Britany zone, kids can touch some aquatic species and ask as many questions as they want to the animator.

Gardens and swimming pools
- Our favorite one : the Stang Alar valley and its Botanical Conservatory
- the explorateurs garden, small but very cute
- The Penfeld riverbanks
- 2 great playground in the Stang Alar valley.
- Along the Brest bay, from Moulin Blanc Beach going to the West, with its very pleasant footpath.
- All those places are perfect for running ! And flatter than the coastal trail near the house.
- There are several swimming pools in Brest. The Moulin Blanc one gives a nice view, a hammam and a sauna on the roof, slides for kids and a river.
The Center and the ports
- Many shops (ones of our favorites are the Dialogue bookshop and the "Les Enfants de Dialogue" kids games shop).
- many bars and restaurants
- Theatres
- Some other good playgrounds in the small gardens in city centre and a skate park in the garden near the train station.
- The port and its marin shops, with 2 spots : the 1st one down the city walls and the 2nd one near Oceanopolis
- The Abeille Bourbon ship, docked when the weather is quiet. It can be visited a few days in the year (Journées du Patrimoine in septembre for example).
- Another very good Climbing room, The Roof, near the city centre place (place de la Liberté).
- And many other activities, museums and places to visit : see Brest Tourism Center.
- Of course, the Fêtes Maritimes de Brest every 4 years ! This is the time to discover boats, gastronomy and craft from all over the world.

- At the North of Le Conquet

The abers and always the coastal trail
- North of Corsen point, the coast is smoother for a totally different landscape but still very beautiful. Some good, original and typical bars, restaurant and tea rooms are waiting for you.
- The Melon island, reached with the low tide, has a menhir. And all small islands and peninsulas of Porspoder and Argenton are wild and beautiful.
- From the West to the North of our Britany Point, 3 abers are waiting to be discovered by foot or bike or kayak : aber Ildult, aber Benoît and aber Wrac’h, with a more serene atmosphere and peculiar views.
- The Meneham site is unique. And the centre équestre Hipporêve, quite close, offers horse rides passing on the beach. Great Souvenir !
Typical festivals
- The postier breton festival (typical small Britany horses) in Landunvez, summer / autumn
- Esti’vent in Porspoder, a breathtaking festival with kites on the dune, July

- Landerneau
We sometimes go up to Landerneau in summer in order to enjoy its swimming pool and its outside slides.
Finally, as the end to our favorite places not too far, the maison de la rivière organizes day courses for fly fishing, with a bit of time for flies making.
